Have you ever thought that you'll never need disability insurance?
According to the Social Security Administration, one in four 20-year
olds will become disabled and unable to work before they reach the age of 67.
In 2012 alone, 650,000 workers became disabled. I don’t know about you but
those figures astound me. You may think that Worker's Compensation will cover
you if you become disabled, but did you know that 90% of long-term disability
claims are due to illnesses and not work-related accidents? You’re never too young to be
concerned about disability insurance; if you work, you need it. Long-term
disability payments may not replace your income 100% (it’s typically around 60%
of your income) but can you imagine if you’re disabled and you have no money
coming in? Even if you have
coverage through your employer, you should talk to your Financial Advisor to
make sure that you have the appropriate coverage to help protect your future.
